Before joining the team of Midagonians, I had the privilege to gain more than 16 years of experience from 3PL (3rd party logistics), to be more specific, mainly contract logistics. Even though I participated in selling the services and operational management, my main tasks were related to IT projects with local and international (external and internal) customers. I have planned and implemented tens of ERP-WMS-TMS integrations as project manager and I have experience from 6 different types of WMS systems.
My best sides are most visible in constructive conversations with suppliers, customers, operational management, and IT – I speak plain English in a way that everyone can understand, always keep my word and I’m not afraid to call out any potential issues or risks. I’m the glue between IT and business - in other words I’m able to interpret IT language to business representatives and on the other hand, business to IT.
I enjoy getting my hands dirty and the work completed. I’ve never been satisfied in doing things the way they have always been done or in a certain way because someone just says so – I like to challenge the status quo and I’m brave enough to ask the so called stupid questions, too.
During my time at Paulig, I worked as a key user for SAP MM/SD. This was a very fruitful time for me due to the fact that Paulig was not afraid to be a pilot in implementing new procedures, e.g. with wholesalers. I was also responsible for the communication towards 3PL service providers and the quality of their KPI reporting.
At DSV, as customer service manager, I led a local team of coordinators and know what it takes to make the customer relationship work. During my DSV years we trained lean philosophy principles to all employees, and I was one of the local lean trainers. It was very educational for me also as the projects I lead were related to transportation instead of contract logistics, which is my own key area of expertise.
Working for Schenker the past seven years also taught me a lot about the meaning of endurance, communication, and stakeholder management. During the first years at Schenker, I was the manager of the local technical IT team. My main responsibility was to lead the migration project, where all the clients and sites were transferred from a legacy warehouse management system to a new one.
When I’m not working, I really enjoy snowboarding. As it is a bit challenging in southern Finland, padel has been my main winter time hobby for the last 2 years. I enjoy playing with random opponents, and therefore I’m eagerly participating in different types of tournaments and series. In the summer time, both me and my wife enjoy playing golf, not always together but also in other groups. The upside here is that planning our holiday trips is easy - they are most often somehow about golf!
