Part 3/5: How to make a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) part of your production transformation?

MES is designed to manage and optimise manufacturing processes. In the ISA-95 framework, MES is positioned in the heart of the manufacturing execution process, Level 3. MES combines enterprise-level systems, like ERP and S&OP data, with plant floor control systems.

An integrated MES provides all the needed information for manufacturing execution, enabling timely decisions to run optimised manufacturing operations. MES enables a good foundation for manufacturing efficiency improvements and continuous development.

At Midagon, we want to share our views and expertise to help the industries thrive in their transformation and development programs. In our upcoming MES Point of View, we share our experiences of getting the best value from MES and running the project from idea to implementation, ensuring that end-to-end business gains will be achieved. We will focus on the following topics and angles:

  • What value does MES provide? What role does it play in the ISA-95 landscape and your value chain?

  • What you should know about your business before exploring MES options

  • How to select an MES software and -provider so that your End-to-End benefits are gained and total costs are considered?

  • What does it take to implement MES successfully?

MES projects are familiar to Midagon from initiation to execution. We have supported many industrial companies in this area. Midagon has been a partner in the successful delivery of a multi-site MES solution to a large forest industry company. We also have ongoing greenfield projects, where the MES will be used from day one when new facilities are used.

Before starting an MES project, it's important to know the latest MES solutions and analyse the most suitable options for your business. Together with this, we ensure that decisions are made considering the end-to-end benefits and that the selected MES solution fits your business landscape.

We can bring you valuable insight and support to be successful with small or large-scale MES projects. Based on our unique, neutral positioning, we can make sure that any changes that are made bring tangible benefits to the business itself and the transformation enables you to achieve your strategic targets.

The MES Point of View will be published soon, in the meantime we are happy to discuss further the benefits it can bring to your business. Meet some of our MES experts:
